The Shanghai History Museum is a well-known Museum that exhibits an exemplary collection of artefacts that represent the history of Shanghai. The museum's collection focuses primarily on nearly 100 years of history of Shanghai from the opening of the port in the year 1843 to 1949 at the time of communist take-over. Surprisingly, the Museum doesn’t really have a permanent location and has been housed currently in Oriental Pearl Tower’s basement. The Shanghai History Museum on this day has a collection of approximately 30,000 items, half from the modern history of the city and the rest that unearthed dark days which predate the Johnny foreigner’s arrival.
