Elephant Fall - Review
Known as Ka Kshaid Lai Pateng Khohsiew by the local Khasi people, Elephant Falls are perhaps the most popular tourist destination in Shillong. If you are on a sight-seeing spree of the city, make sure this place is right at the top of your itinerary. The first thing that you will witness after reaching the spot is the foaming white water, gurgling down the stony steps. This crystal clear water is in contrast with the greenery on the sides of the waterfall, adding to the beauty of the place. Renamed as Elephant Falls by the British, who found it difficult to pronounce the local name, the waterfall is believed to have gotten its name from a huge elephant-shaped rock near it. Though the rock was destroyed in an earthquake, the name remained. Make the best use of this waterfall and shed your inhibitions to take a dip in cold, clear water.

Elephant Fall, Shillong Reviews
Wonderful Small place but beautiful place and it is the 1st place that many visit. Three layered step by step waterfall. Very nice and simple over footbridge is available to see the full view of the waterfall. Little dangerous in rainy season because of huge waterfall. So beautiful for photo shoot. Security is there to control the people not allowing to deep level of water lake that is filled with the water of waterfall..... The name is a misnomer now since the elephant-back shaped rock beneath the falls was destroyed some time back. Nonetheless, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Shillong. Also, this is one of the few places that sell memorabilia
This is a nice and three steps water falls. You can visit all of the three falls easily by walking and by same short. The walking path gently descended with lots of stairs and a bridge across the stream between 2 nd and 3rd falls. Among the three falls the bottom tier is the most impressive one. The sides of the waterfall are flanked by lush greenery and that adds to the charm of the place.

Offers you parking , paid toilet and few eating shops. There is a waterfall which has three stages. Preferably one should carry umbrella during rains however the same is also available on rent. The gradient is steep and it's advisable that elders not to go down as it will be difficult for them to climb back. Overall a beautiful refreshing place. The road connectivity is also good.
