Lady Hydari Park - Review

Out of the places to visit in Shillong, this is the most enchanting one. This magnificent garden enthralls with its green lawns, well manicured outdoors and varieties of flora adorning the Park. This unmissable picnic spot is run and maintained by the forest department and also is a home to animals in a mini-zoo.

The children's park nearby is quite crowded with numerous kids coming there to play and enjoy the spacious park. Stretching over half a kilometer, this huge park is quite close to the mesmerizing Crinoline Falls. After a day of sight-seeing and walking in the park, if you feel too tired to go to the falls, you can enjoy a cool dip in the city's only pool, which has the same name as that of the falls.

Lady Hydari Park, Shillong Reviews

  • Lady Hydari Park is named after the first lady of the area, wife of the first Governor of Assam; Shillong being under Assam administration during the British occupation. Along with Ward’s Lake it is the best maintained park in the city. A small house inside the park also houses a museum. The museum main aim is to highlight the State’s rich biodiversity. You get to see stuffed leopard, skulls of elephant, photos of rare animals found in the state and surprisingly the dried skin of python clipped to the wall.

  • A very beautiful park to make fun. It's closest to the city centre and one can enjoy there with whole family. Many types of reptiles & birds are available inside cages in this park... Well decorated and maintained... A lot of playing equipments are there for children.

  • One of the best park in the state. Full of green trees, colourful flowers, animals.. Flora and fauna at the same place. Must see

  • The place is just so calm , so big, so vast that you will definitely fall in love with this. If not I'm a traveller, I will definitely be in this park through all day. All highs and lows, the museum create a special place in my heart.

  • You are gonna love this place , nominal entry fee and a good place if you love nature . Located inside city , probably a 20 Min walk from police bazzar . The main thing is that they are maintaining the park properly and that is what many parks in North India lack.
