Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve Reviews & Ratings
Today I found lots of turkey eggs taken for grab...everyone needs to eat..found a pile of lily of the valley to smell and a nice turkey feather. It's close and though I can hear the highway, I am in the woods and the bird song is so wonderful. Grounding.
I love Barkhausen. Close to town, free, and my favorite part is going for runs on the compacted stone trails (easy on the legs). Tons of waterfowl to see and cross country skiing as well.
I had an awesome time on a bird walk. Jason knows his bird calls and helped us see a bunch of different birds and ducks. The walk was offered through WILD BIRDS UNLIMITED. Jason works at Barkhausen full time and Wild Birds Unlimited part time. Jason was a great guide!
Beautiful trails and a great nature center. You cannot, however, bring your dog ( even on a leash) to hike with you :(
My family & I went on a very nice walk through the woods. We saw lots of wildlife;birds, deer & we found a snapping turtle shell. We also saw a huge fish in the little creek there. I forgot what its called though. I give this place 5 stars because its so beautiful there.
