Close to Shoreditch, you will find Altab Ali Park on Adler Street. Also known as St. Mary’s Park, Altab Ali Park is where the 14th-century church called St. Mary’s Matfelon is located. However, the church was bombed in 1940 and today, you can see only the remains of the old church in the park. The park was later renamed after a Bangladeshi worker Altab Ali who was murdered at the Adler Street. You can see the reflection of the Bengali style of architecture at the arch of the gate. Along the paths, you can see the fragments of a beautiful poem by Rabindranath Tagore.
