Located in Piazza del Campo, the Mangia Tower was originally built between 1338 to 1348. At that time, it had the pride of being one of the tallest towers of medieval Italy. It stands at a commanding height of 289 feet. Fascinatingly, the tower is named after a gluttonous watchman. The top of the tower is privy to outstanding views of the city. It stands out at the Piazza del Campo, not just because of its height but also because of its authentic medieval architecture.

This tower is one of the must visit place in Siena. The stairs to arrive on top are very narrow and they are not simple to climb them. Anyway, once on top, the view is amazing! you are able to see the whole city from above and to recognize the old walls of it!
There are more than 400 stairs and only 25 people can go up every half hour. So you have to take your time and be in good shape as the stairs are narrow and take some effort. But the view on the top is breathtaking. Enjoy
Brilliant construction from medieval ages when Siena and Florence were rivals. It is very high tower more than one hundred meters. True crown of piazza del Campo.
Lots and lots of steps but well worth it. Amazing views of Siena and the Tuscan surroundings.
The famous tower of Siena, which worth to climbed up, if you aren't claustrophobic. Because the stairs are quite narrow. But amazing strong tower, able to 'carry' lots of people (tourists) ups & downs, especially during peak summer time. The view from the top is quite breath taking. Apparently Tower of Mangia inspired the design of the clock tower 'Old Joe' at University of Birmingham, UK.
