- By Air: The closest international airport to Sigiriya is the Bandaranaike International Airport, from where you can hop on to an Air taxi to the Kandy airport, located 73km East of Sigiriya.
- By Train: Traveling by train to Sigiriya will require early planning and bookings. It might also be a bit inconvenient as the nearest train station is 15 km away, at Habarana, and is serviced by just one train. The ticket price ranges between Rs. 480 to Rs. 600, depending on the type of your seat.
- By Bus: Sigiriya is well-connected to Dambulla, with buses running every 30 minutes or so. It is also the cheapest way to travel – costing Rs. 40 for a one-way trip, and an excellent way to connect with the locals and observe their culture up-close.
- By Private Transport: You can hire tuk tuks and private taxis from Dambulla or Habarana to reach Sigiriya in half an hour to 45 minutes. The tuk tuks charge around Rs. 800 and Rs. 1000 for a one-way trip to Sigiriya. Knowledgeable Sigiriya travel guides are available at the site, near the ticket counter.
Walking is the best way to get around Sigiriya and explore its nooks and crannies. However, you can also hire tuk tuks for visiting the nearby attractions like the Pidurangala.
