One of the oldest bridges in Singapore, this is the only suspension bridge in Singapore and spans over the lower reaches on the Singapore River.

Inaugurated in 1870 to celebrate Singapore's new Crown colony of the Straits Settlements status in 1867, the bridge still retains its original form.

A national monument, Cavengagh Bridge is a pedestrian bridge providing a link between the northern banks where the cultural district resides to the south banks of the river which is also the commercial district.

Numerous sculpture works adorn the bridge including those of the Singapura cats (kucinta or drain cats) which are known to be the smallest breeds of cats in the world.
