Imperial Treasure, Singapore Reviews
Experiencing a company ‘Lo Hei’ lunch (Chinese new year celebration meal) was a great way to sample of a lot of dishes in one sitting (eight to be precise). We started with a roast duck dish which had a crispy skin and a lovely juicy texture to the meat. That was swiftly followed by a steamed fish lightly cooked in soy sauce. Next was a long bean and stir fry dish that was also tasty in a delicate way and not too strong. The next dish I skipped as it was a shark’s fun soup, so it was a little disappointing personally to hear they served that, but as many people still order the dish at this festive time, it’s something that still appears on the menu. I’m not sure if my appetite was spoiled after that but the following dishes felt a bit underwhelming. They included a vegetable and sea cucumber dish in a heavy sauce that seemed to smother the flavour. The carbs came in the form of glutinous rice which also seemed heavy and overly oily. The desert was a red bean soup that tasted a little bland and was unfortunately a downer for the end of the meal. Overall the meal was nice without being great and the service was similarly efficient without being memorable. Hopefully they can ditch the shark’s fin from the menu and I would be inclined to return, otherwise I’ll keep my distance.
Terrible service, over priced, and food very average, not worth the 45 min wait! After sat down, waited 20 min, still no one attended to us for even drinks, we had to try stop someone 3 times before someone gave us tea and took our order. After order, our Lo Hai came, but then there was a 45min wait for our next dish... not even the soup. Again, we had to try stop people to chase 3 times..... to get our soup.... 10 min later another dish.... 10 min later another dish..... over an hour later, and the last dish... simple stir fry vegetables .... 70 min, no where to be seen!!!! We order 4 simple dishes and 2 soups!!! And during the ordering, the manager keep trying to get us to order very expensive abalone and seafood.... 4 to 5 times more than the dishes we were asking for.... I have been here a few times before, but it has really gone down hill. Not planning to come back again!
I'm a big fan of the Imperial Treasure restaurant chain, but this is not one of their better restaurants. Service is inconsistent, one of the servers elbowed my head while serving tea and didn't even apologize, and we had to keep chasing for our noodles (the response was "it's being cooked right now" for more than 20 min). Food was a bit on the salty side, and I swear the Peking duck ($88) here is smaller than the ones at their Peking duck restaurants. Dim sum was pretty consistent with the other restaurants though, excellent. This location has many private rooms - try requesting for one if you have a big group as the main dining room is packed really tight !
Great food and great service ! 👍
I like the food and ambience here in general. The v staff are attentive and knowledgeble. Their soup of the day is always tasty. Book the meats in advance to be assured of their availability. Their truffle noodles are also very good.
