Jumbo, Singapore Reviews - Write a Review
Jumbo is Jumbo. They know their processes and they make them work. Service at the start from prompt and efficient, but as the place got busier everything started to slow. The teams were polite and as helpful as ever. Food as the normal quality you would expect from Jumbo. All in all an enjoyable evening
I've been here multiple times, and the food was always good. I even have a few remarks to make. Firstly, the crab size is very, and I mean very, varied. Some days they only have 800g-1kg crabs, then all of a sudden one day they start offering you 1.5 kilo monsters from the deep. Is the size of the crab available to your party determined by the size of the party or is it about availability? That is one question I would like to ask. I would have given 5 stars but I had to take away one star due to the bland salted egg yolk prawns. Apparently they are award-winning but honestly I feel that the salted egg yolk coating is just there to mask the blandness of the prawns. But other than that, it's honestly the best Jumbo anywhere other than the flagship shop in East Coast!! Yes, the Dempsey Jumbo is neck and neck with the flagship East Coast Jumbo!!
This is my first time visiting jumbo. The food is great.. and the place is fully crowded. We have to booked in advance to reserve the table. The mantao is good to dip in chilli crab gravy 😊😊😊
Excellent 🦀 My personal favourite is the black pepper crab, but the chilli crab is very good also. Don't forget to order mantao buns on the side. Another great dish is the seafood rice that's equally fresh and flavorful. Nice place to have a late dinner after some evening drinks.
Food's great, but service isn't. Staff were curt, and communication among the service team was poor - we waited 15 minutes for the bill, eventually asking a waitress to check on it, who returned to inform us that we were supposed to order one more item (to qualify for a promotion we were using). So we ordered, and then waited another 15 more minutes before another waitress came to check on us and discovered that the order hadn't been made. It was much better service at the Riverwalk outlet. But that doesn't change the fact that the food was good, at Dempsey, still quality seafood.
