Jumbo - Review
Jumbo is a local dining seafood restaurant recommended specially for groups, after work hours or any business meeting. This place is a hangout place like other casual hangouts that offer Singapore’s specialty; sea food. The sea food is extremely fresh and well-prepared. If you ask any taxi driver to take you to the place where best chili crabs are served, he is sure to take you to Jumbo Restaurant. You will also find a complete bar for alcohol and other drinks. The ambience is very quirky and fun.
As mentioned before, the dish that isn’t to be missed is the chili crab, so if you are a sea food lover, you should surely not miss out Jumbo restaurant in your list. Other delicacies served here are egg custard shrimp, whole Peking duck, Salted egg and Srilankan crabs. This place is tourist friendly and very good for having a great dining experience. The Jumbo restaurant also has its very own art gallery displaying images of various sea food dishes. Jumbo, Singapore Reviews
So I am a big fan of this place. The crabs and the buns that come along with it are quite good! If you are in Singapore I would totally recommend you going to one of here. They are a little expensive side like $50 per person depending on the size of the crab. It is best if you go in a group. It will be a cost effective solution for the meal. The serving is also quite big so it is better in a group but if you think you can demolish a whole crab by yourself. Totally suit yourself. There are sizes also for the crab, small medium and large. We shared a medium crab between 4 people with 24 buns.
It's a bad experience. I was given an ultimatum to finished and leave my table by 1.30pm inspite of booking a reservation of two days notice at 12 noon. This was only made known to me when i arrived to check in. It's just like dinning in a hawker centre. There was clear discrimination as the table beside me dinning at the same time did not have restriction imposed. The next table had about eight person and i had only three. My expenditure was more than 200 dollars and i am also a Jumbo member. Don't dine there if you have less people otherwise you will have the same fate. I don't experience this restriction in other restaurant. The only restriction imposed is during Chinese new year and also this restriction is made known before you accept the booking and apply to everyone. That is fair and square.
Quality of food is as good as ever with the same consistency found in most if not all Jumbo Seafood Restaurant. Keep up the great job! It is normally very difficult to maintain quality and consistency in chain restaurants but somehow this group have surprised me on numerous occasions. Being a Franchise Consultant with no connection to them, I have nothing but praises for this group!
First time with a group of work colleagues and what a great time it was. Great service, great food, good beer and great outdoor setting. Come prepared - bring an appetite, a thirst and a dark coloured shirt. Don't wear anything white as the stray bits of flying chilli sauce are going to get you regardless. Well worth a visit if going to Singapore
Great eating experience in the long established seafood restaurant. Thumbs up for their crispy honey fried squid, but the portion is too little. Mayonnaise king prawn is tasty and fresh. Don't miss their black pepper crab, fantastic!
