  • Interesting area around. Nice cottages.

  • Great location. Really small but cute. Though the walls are really thin!

  • Cannot say enough splendid things about my stay in this absolutely magical, isolated, charming, deeply Icelandic place. I can only speak to the experience I had in the beginning of December, which obviously is not the tourist season, and which may be the reason that our stay was so tranquil, peaceful, magical and memorable. There was literally no one else at the property aside from me, my model (I'm a photographer), the wonderful staff and owner, and the owner's two lovely dogs, who roamed at will from cabin to cabin, crunching the snow in the darkness. I rented the best cabin on the property, which came with a private, outdoor hot tub, and my model and I spent pretty much every night naked in the hot tub, engulfed in complete silence except for the tiny whisper of light snow falling, with a bottle of champagne, the faintest of glows of aurora borealis above us, and the crystal blue night sky as movie screen. We ended up extending our stay by a couple of nights because we loved it so much. The term "Guesthouse" is misleading... this is a large property with about a dozen cabins of different sizes, as well as I think one dormer. It is not a single guesthouse. My guess is that in tourist season, you will not be anywhere near alone, as Lake Myvatn is directly behind the property and the popular springs of Myvatn are a mere 2km down the road, along with other popular attractions like ice caves, volcanoes and the like. But, I do not think this will greatly diminish the charm. As is Icelandic tradition, the breakfasts are simple but lovingly prepared: skyr of course, homemade breads with the superb Icelandic butter, salamis and smoked fish, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, some berries and a waffle making machine. Cookies and a few other sweets round out the offerings. This is a fantastic experience and it is close by pretty much anything you would want out of Myvatn. I would absolutely take a stay here over any of the other places in the area. If you go in Winter, make SURE you have a 4 wheel drive Jeep, studded tires, high ground clearance, a GPS and reliable internet access for constant updates on road conditions as weather can swing from tolerable to dangerous in minutes. The Icelandic government provides SUPERB websites that update road conditions every seven minutes. Access to this info is CRITICAL TO YOUR LIFE. That is not an exaggeration. In winter expect road closures that may keep you from reaching the things you want to see. However, if you have the hot tub, champagne, a naked, 20-something Slovakian model, and the right attitude, you won't care.

  • Definitely a gem in the area: simens kitchen appliances and Bosch water boiler, from which you can see owner's determination to treat guest good. Clean and tidy for sure. Spacious room and area. Considerate to provide hanger for wet clothes! Accessible to the beautiful lake and great location to shoot northern lights. They even provide soft and hard boiled eggs in breakfast, which I hadn't seen during my entire 15 days trip. Fetching with Japni was fun too.

  • Cabin was very cozy, efficient use of space. Staff was very friendly.
