An ancient church with the history dating back to the 7th century, Ripon Cathedral welcomes numerous pilgrims and tourists throughout the year. Also known as the cathedral church of St Peter and St Wilfrid, Ripon Cathedral was founded by Scottish monks in the 660s as a monastery. The church is architecturally significant for its Early English style gothic west front along with its Geometric window. With a strong music tradition, the cathedral is an important example of early Christian architecture.
