Hudson Highlands Reviews & Ratings
Relatively comprehensive short 1-2 hour hike on Bun Hill with a gradually inclined path that goes to the peak. The views at the top are pretty scenic; you can see the Hudson River and the surrounding mountains very easily. Following the peak, the trail we took went on a gradual decline, giving you plenty of time to rest and cool down as you go down the mountain. There's plenty of loose rocks on the path down, so hiking sticks and hiking boots are recommended when descending.
Such a great place to escape to have amazing trails and mountains to hike. Town has paddle board or kayak rentals if you want to go out in the Hudson. Plentiful amount of restaurants ice cream shops, local arts and retail shops. Highly recommend only a 60 minute commute on metro north from grand central. Great getaway for a day or weekend depending how long you need a break for.
Beautiful historic site you take a ferry to on the Hudson River! They are a Monarch Sanctuary also with Native Pollinator Gardens along with flower gardens. Interesting your of the grounds and house the family lived in and how the Castle was built and used.
I love hiking to the top of Anthony's Nose. Beautiful view. You can make it to the top in about 35-45 minutes depending on your conditioning and if you take the entrance from 9W. The 1st half (1st 20-25 minutes) is a bit strenuous but its gets a lot easier the 2nd half. Worth the hike.
Breakneck Ridge was no joke to climb. Definitely one of the most intense hikes I've been on in the area but we'll worth it for the views. The trails are well marked so no issues there and I didn't feel unsafe at all given the easier options available
