This magnificent and ancient fortress is named after the Roman name of Sopron- Scarbantia. Being one of the important border stations of the Province of Pannonia in the Roman reign, the structure of the fortress was largely influenced by the Roam architecture. The ruins still remind of the era long gone by with different altars to different gods, temples of three main gods Jupiter, Juno and Minerva.

There is a permanent exhibition dedicated to the former Roman town. This forum in Sopron is one of its kind and the only one built in Roman style in the entire Province of Pannonia.
