Il Vallone Dei Mulini - Review
Just behind Piazza Tasso, a stunning natural phenomenon is on view from Via Fuorimura. This deep cleft in the mountain dated from a volcanic eruption 35,000 years ago. Sorrento was once bounded by three gorges, but today this is the only one that remains. It is named after the ancient wheat mills that were once located here, the ruins of which are still clearly visible.
The place is an archeological marvel and great for history enthusiasts.

Il Vallone Dei Mulini, Sorrento Reviews
I have wanted to come to Sorrento to see the mills for 7 years now. I am a huge aficionado of all things abandoned and these mills are quite famous. I read that you could walk through them, similar to a park, but when I arrived I found it was completely closed off and there is no access down to the mills themselves. I was absolutely crushed. It is still beautiful from above, but I would have given anything to go down.
Amazing ,but don't follow Google maps takes you to wrong place,it's by main square on high st Viale Enrico Caruso Viale Enrico Caruso, 80067 Sorrento NA, Italy
Google doesn't tell you that this park is actually a street below the main center. So watch out when asking for directions 😊 otherwise, very good
After even a small amount of research concerning this intriguing and unique oddity, you will discover the purpose it served and the reason for its and, by extension, the city of Sorrento's existence. Adventurous and nimble explorers can even hire a guide and obtain permission to descend into this ruin. Good luck!
We nearly missed this wonderful place. We saw it purely by accident. What a view of this ancient sawmill which is lying far below the current street level. It reminded me of the forests of fairytales. Really something to observe when in Sorrento.
