  • So worth the stop and the tour is a MUST. We had a great time! Super interesting and fun tour. Our tour guide was informative and funny. You get to take a mine shaft elevator ride down to the mine and ride in mine cars to and from the large room. Our kids 8, 6, and 4 loved it!! If you like history, this place is awesome!!

  • Above ground, there are some mine artifacts on display to enjoy. For $15, take the underground mine tour. The tour was education, fun, and great for all ages. The team working there makes sure that the experience is absolutely safe so I had no issues going almost a half mile underground in the original mine shaft. The tour shed light on the history of the immigrants who worked in the mine as well as the local importance of the mine to the community. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered great questions from the tour group. It is about 50 degrees underground and staff was sure to let us know that it was chilly and to prepare accordingly. The tour included the ride down 27 levels in the mine lift, a ride in the underground rail, and tour through one of the surprisingly large “pockets” where teams of miners extracted hematite iron ore.

  • An excellent, retired minor was our guide. His name is Karl. He made the tour fun & informative. One could visualize the weary miners working far underground with minimal light & fusty air. Highly recommend

  • Do not go on this mine tour. My husband and I came on this tour the morning of our anniversary. I was hit in the head with a steel bar while riding in the mine cars. It is not a safe tour. After the incident I was told that if I needed to seek any medical help that it would be covered. They didn't cover anything and I have been dealing with neck pain and migraines for weeks. I DO NOT recommend this experience to anyone.

  • This place was not on our direct route, but we took a 2 1/2 detour for it... and it was so worth it! I have never been on a mine tour so exciting before. the ride down was fairly nerve wracking, not gonna lie, but was still so awesome. Warning that it could be a bit claustrophobic for the 3 minute ride down (and back up) in the small "elevator" for some folks.
