Located on the South of the Mauritius island, the Rochester falls offer an ultimate beautiful view with cascading waters and an extraordinary background. These falls are located on the cross point of the villages Souillac and Saint Aubin. What makes these falls an extraordinary one is its lava cliffs. They have been formed over the years of erosion and have rendered a spectacular backdrop of rectangular blocks stuck together against the waterfalls. The water of these falls gushes down from a height of 10 meters through the rocky beds of the Savanne River and forms a thick foam. With such enamouring beauty, these falls constitute a perfect picnic spot so as to keep you engaged for long hours.

Rochester Falls, Souillac Reviews - Write a Review
*Car Break In Alert* Our car had its window smashed and things stolen. We were informed this is common recently at Rochester Falls (Nov, 2017, we had only 10 mins there). Especially at quiet times when it feels secluded. Try to park close to the waterfall. Don't leave valuables in the car. Other than that, the road is bumpy but we made it in a tiny car. The waterfall was lovely, although we came across 'exhibitionists' overly enjoying their honeymoon... Due anyone thinking of repeating this... It's not private!!! The waterfall itself is beautiful. My wife doesn't think the risk is worth the visit, but I leave that up to the reader.
***SCAM ALERT*** when driving through the cane fields, if a man approaches you and tells you to park because the road is too narrow to turn around, ignore him and keep on driving. There is plenty of room to park and turn around at the top of the falls. That guy will try to be your guide to the falls (unnecessary and more than a little creepy) and then demand 500 mr. Other than that, it is beautiful and probably peaceful when you don't have a homeless man standing over your shoulder.
Great waterfall, access is free of charge, park up the car nearby and walk the rest. Good for a swim and dive, water not too cold.
Nice walk around waterfall
Beautiful location, good for swimming.the Google maps doesn't take you to the falls but to a turn to unpaved road that leads to the falls. (Waze will take you straight to the falls)
