Temple Of Poseidon Reviews & Ratings
Seaside view is amazing, especially with the vast ocean. Definitely, recommend wathing the sunset there before catching the last bus to head back to Athens. Explore the entire park as there is a great aerial view of a nearby beach and port. Free entry for students who display a valid EU student ID card, includes foreign students studying in EU. Bus from Athens to Sounio (€7) and from Sounio to Athens (€5.50). Payment is done while in the bus as it drives along the coast with an amazing view. The bus ride duration varies (depending on traffic) from 1h20min to 2h10min.
It was very nice, the view is fantastic. There are some explanations about the history of the area around the archeological site. At the same time, I feel that 8 euros as entrance fee is a bit too much. The temple becomes quite busy with tourists around sunset which is good to know if you're looking for a romantic evening.
It's a beautiful site. I don't think I'd spend the day driving down to see it unless you wanted to stop along the way at some of the fantastic beaches. Great gift shop and Cafe once you get there.
Beautiful temple that is best appreciated during sunset. During afternoon the temple location can become quite hot so bring water and protection against the sun. The views of the ocean and surrounding areas are breathtaking too, however the temple area is small and all can be seen in just 20 to 30 minutes. If you are visiting, I strongly suggest you pick a day of clear weather and visit during sunset, a beautiful sunset makes all the difference.
The drive there from Athens is beautiful. 1 1/2 hr drive by coach. Views are fabulous. Has a restaurant/cafeteria there. Not as crowded as the Parthenon.
