South Lake Tahoe’s only indoor ice skating rink must be versatile! It has to please many different parties, from ice skaters to, to ice hockey player to just families looking to have a good time. And it does! The ice is kept in superb condition but it may be a good idea to check out whether or not it’s free to use on the day and time you want to visit. It’s best to bring your own set of skates though; the establishment’s equipment may be worn out.

  • We went to hockey skills and drills as complete newbies to both hockey AND skating. Coach Rich was super kind, helpful and patient! I would highly recommend the South Lake arena both as a place to go and free skate and also as a place to learn the fundamentals of hockey. The facility is top notch, clean and there's even food and beer! It's worth the hour and a half drive for us for sure. And the staff is super friendly as well.

  • Great ice, very smooth at the beginning of public session and not too busy so it stayed nice for the hour and a half we were there. I've been to plenty of rinks where the ice was so wavy it was hard to stay up. Like all public rinks they don't sharpen their skates frequently enough so rental skates hardly had an edge. But since we've bought our own skates it is a much better experience. Price for public skate is competitive, $13 + $2 rental (age 7+ pays full price). I wish they sold annual or monthly passes to take the edge off. $56 for a family of 4 is steep if you're going more than once or twice a month.

  • Not crowded, well managed ice skating rink. You can tell that they like the young by little things like the library and the free ice skating offer early in the morning on school days. If I am mot mistaken you could skate for hours for just $15, which includes the rentals.

  • Ice conditions are excellent! We had 31 kids on the ice for 4 hours a day for a week and the conditions were consistent throughout the week. The arena staff were all very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. The arena facilities were always very clean and are well kept.

  • Our family's first time ice skating was good fun. Service was very good. Not sure if it's always that cold, but even with winter coats we were getting a little chilly. A little sore after, but we'd totally go back.
