Red Lion Pub - Review
The Pub with a history, Red Lion was built way back in the 15th century. You can explore the Norman cellars in the basement as well as a lot of other exhibits from the Tudor origin. To keep up the fun the pub host weekly games and events such as Meal Draw and Pub Quiz. Along with superb food and beverages the place is ripe with old legends. It is said that Henry V held the trial of 3 men who tried to assassinate him in here. Also the legend of ‘21 ghosts’ is told to exist in the pub. Myth or real, only one way to find out. Go for it.

Red Lion Pub, Southampton Reviews
The Red Lion has always been one of my favourite pubs, really great historic pub adorned with shields, flags and suits of armour and not forgetting a friendly grey parrot. The food is exceptionally good and reasonably priced. The steaks are cooked to perfection and your plate is laden with chips, salad, onion rings etc. There is a fairly good selection of lager, ales, ciders and spirits. The piped music has been awesome on some of my visits especially in the evening and the pub can be packed to the rafters. During the day the pub can be quiet with a relaxed atmosphere. The Red Lion does look a bit tired in places so if you are looking for a smart clean Gastro Pub don't bother but if you are looking for a pub with character and good food you must visit. A word of warning though - the steps upstairs are steep so mind how you go after a few glasses of your favourite tipple - enjoy.
Definitely a place you cannot miss if you are visiting Southampton. I have lived in Southampton for few years and never been there before, excellent service, good variety of beers and Ales, and the food is just amazing. I went with another two people and we all end up very satisfied. Generous portions and the cook know how to do an excellent job.
Great historic pub, one the best in the area. Nice selection of ales and food- haven't eaten here but it certainly looks good. The parrot is an interesting addition as well. Busy at peak times and it can be difficult to get a seat if you just want a drink.
Lovely pub. Great food, good atmosphere and a sweet African Grey :3
This pub is the oldest I've been and is steeped in history. An amazing place and the beer is superb. Definitely returning to get completely blathered some time. Cheers!!
