  • I came here for a university open day, and despite being told beforehand that I'd be fine for wheelchair access, it was quite the opposite. The accessibility outside was fine. Moving inside the buildings, wheelchair access was appalling. Narrow corridors and heavy, narrow doorways. No stepless access and the stair lift was not able to be independently used. We arrived 5mins early for the subject talk and ended up 15 minutes late, despite the fact that they knew we were coming, because no one could operate the stair lift and there was no stepless access. The lecture theatre had a steep set of stairs and the steps were so narrow I could barely keep my wheelchair on them without falling down. The only place we could go was directly in front of the door and I was repeatedly hit in the face by people leaving early. Considering I told them in advance that I was a wheelchair user, and was assured the subject talks are accessible, I am absolutely horrified at the University's idea of access.

  • One of the best universities in UK. Great facilities and technology driven

  • Why is there no parking? It's a shambles. The council keeps extending the permit holder zones outwards from the university because during student term time there is nowhere near the campus for residents to park. And the demand for parking permits outstrips supply because the campus car parks are too small. There is no long-term strategy behind this, it's absurd.

  • Impressive facilities, nice infrastructure, courteous members of staff, strong students support, great globalization policy, beautiful and green campus contribute to the uniqueness of the University of Southampton

  • Lovely, well maintained campus.
