Visit the world famous street which used to be the only street to have the residents of two Nobel Prize winners – His Excellence Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and Desmond Tutu. It is also the spot where Hector Pieterson was shot dead that lead to the riot on 16th June, 1976. Walk down the street and at the corner you will come across the famous Mandela Family Museum. Though this street is so famous in the world of history, its neighbor still lives a very simple life. Perhaps what makes this place so special is its simple lifestyle and surroundings.
The other highlight of the street is the artwork that is located at the intersection of the road. The artwork includes eight huge grey hands spell ‘Vilakazi’ in sign language.
