Spread across a vast land of 1,400 acres, Historic Blakeley State Park was created in 1976. The park was formerly occupied by a community on the river and also served as a station for the confederated soldiers during the last major U.S. Civil War. The park is now a perfect place to enjoy a number of recreational activities. There are many trails here that are ideal for a hike through the woods. The many campsites in the park allow you to have a fun holiday camping. The park is comprised of a variety of ecosystems including wetlands, forests, and swamps. There is also a long boardwalk here which is quite well-maintained. The park has many historical sites that provide you information about the civil war. The park has a river to its west where you can sit for hours together enjoying the tranquility. A park that lets you hike, camp, and know more about history deserves a visit on a weekend.
