Galerija Mestrovic, Split Reviews
Great place on a rainy day or just to get out of the sun, 'I have just notice' on the Free Split tourist map that they have put this Gallery on the Wrong place. On one side of the map you can find Mestrovic Galley as number 14, if you where to go there you would find yourself at the President Hotel. On the other side of the map you will find the President Hotel listed under number 14 which is in fact where the Mestrovic Gallery is. It is worth a few hours of time to explore the gallery and there is a cafe to rest your feet's once you have been round it. There is a Museum just along the road from it and also nearby beaches, so it is in an area you could spend the whole day exploring. From the Riva seafront in Split you can catch a number 12 bus which drops you off near the gallery, if walking from the Riva allow at least 20/30 minutes it is a nice walk along the prom pasting lots of bars and cafes.
Beautiful place. Great artist whose life and work are very motivational. You must see this place if you're visiting Split. I strongly recommend to pay the guide guy to hear more about him and his work.
A must see. The view is amazing from the 2nd floor of the gallery. You can go have a swim after, there's a beach just in front of the museum.
A fitting way to discover the talent of one of the greatest Croatian artists - Ivan Mestrovic. A shepard boy whose sculptures represent a unique poetry of stone and wood.
The gardens outside are lush green. Some of the sculptures are really impressive. I suggest getting transport to it from split since it is a good 30 min walk. The ticket price is 40 hrk per adult. Washrooms are available. 4 stars because I'm not a fan of either sculptures or the artist but for a fan of his work this gallery would be astounding.
