Jamia Masjid - Review

The Jamia Masjid is a beautiful, simple and yet very beautiful mosque in Srinagar. The reddish building and the green garden stand in beautiful contrast and have a very calm and serene atmosphere to them.

There are 370 wooden pillars to the mosque which makes it a remarkable sight. It is a sacred place as well as a tourist attraction, as a result. Due to its Indo-Saracenic architecture it has become a very important part of the history of architecture in Srinagar as well. The British influences on the structure are worth noting.

Located in the heart of the city, this lovely mosque is a wonderful spiritual site for the traveler. Be sure to visit it to experience its beauty as well as the calmness it has.

  • Different and unique architecture We don't see this style of architecture in other masjids in India. It's really special and different. Spread out with large interiors located in the middle of old city. A must visit place.

  • Amazing experience... a must visit for all... Soothing ambience...this place is very peaceful... Very well maintained... historical jamia masjid... More than 600 years old... A very good tourist destination also... It got burnt three times... Beautiful architecture...

  • Jamia masjid Srinagar, as the name speaks of itself, is the biggest mosque in Srinagar and probably in the whole valley. "Jamia" word means big or biggest. This mosque is the largest mosque in Srinagar with a capacity of 33,333 persons praying at a single time inside it . Large no.of men and women come here to pray/offer Namaz especially on the day of Friday for Friday Prayers and also on the days of Eid. This mosque has a garden and fountain inside it.

  • This experience can't be put forward through words it really was a great journey... loved it
