This 80 hectare botanical garden was opened in 1969 on the banks of Dal Lake, on the slopes of the Zabarwan mountain. The garden has four sections - recreational garden, botanical garden, research section and plant introduction centre. Keep an eye out for the oak and willow and cedar trees, which are some what unusual for India, and for orchids. There are over 150,000 plants here. A small lake within the garden area measures 17 hectares in area, and you can take a pedal boat out onto it. Kids will like the small field with the merry go round and see-saws.
