The name means ‘Garden of the Morning Breeze’. Laid out by Emperor Akbar in 1856, sown with Chinar trees by his grandson Shah Jahan in 1635, this is now one of the nicest places to take a stroll west of Dal Lake. The breeze blowing in from the lake makes the tranquility even more pleasant. You’ll often find people taking photographs of the park, trying to frame it with the mountains in the background in different seasons. It’s lush in spring and summer, a riot of color in autumn. Camping is allowed on the park grounds. Vendors can be found selling handicraft and dry fruit.
