Shankaracharya Temple - Review
The Shankarcharya Temple is considered to be one of the most important places to visit in Srinagar. The temple is dedicated to an old saint and one of the most brilliant minds in the history of Indian thought and Philosophy..
Built in the traditional Hindu style of Architecture, this lovely temple is a real sight to be beheld. The arches, steps and the shikhar style have a rustic feel to them and the stone temple may well transport you back in time.
The view of the city from Shankaracharya Hill where the temple is situated is also quite spectacular. History lovers, culture seekers and of course the religious will find this place quite fascinating.

Shankaracharya Temple, Srinagar Reviews
Best temple in Srinagar which stands a top of hill. Picturesque view of Srinagar can be seen from the hill. Mobile phone and camera are not allowed for security reasons
No doubt for the temple....... But I would like to request the caretaker or the shrine board to look into the matter as per.... I personally faced prblms... And the security forces denied to help as they are not allowed to touch.. If I would have above 60...they would have helped me .... No emergency help.... Nothing at all.. Kindly do arrange a bit at least for one who cannot climb stairs or with any physical problems.......
I didn't feel strong divine vibes here but the view this hilltop offers is just beautiful. It's a shame we could not take any pictures because cameras and mobile phones aren't allowed. It's a 250 steps climb from where the vehicles are allowed and then a few more steps into the main temple. The temple is a really old one, one can tell by the structure. A decent place o visit if you are around dal lake and have some time to kill.
Overlooking the city of Srinagar at a height of 1000 feet is the Shankaracharya temple which dates back to 200 B.C. The temple in its present form has been in existence since the 9th century A.D and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple was visited by Adi Shankara and since then it has been associated with him.
Nice place to visit in srinagar....Har har mahadev
