Shankaracharya Temple - Review
The Shankarcharya Temple is considered to be one of the most important places to visit in Srinagar. The temple is dedicated to an old saint and one of the most brilliant minds in the history of Indian thought and Philosophy..
Built in the traditional Hindu style of Architecture, this lovely temple is a real sight to be beheld. The arches, steps and the shikhar style have a rustic feel to them and the stone temple may well transport you back in time.
The view of the city from Shankaracharya Hill where the temple is situated is also quite spectacular. History lovers, culture seekers and of course the religious will find this place quite fascinating.

Shankaracharya Temple, Srinagar Reviews
I didn't feel strong divine vibes here but the view this hilltop offers is just beautiful. It's a shame we could not take any pictures because cameras and mobile phones aren't allowed. It's a 250 steps climb from where the vehicles are allowed and then a few more steps into the main temple. The temple is a really old one, one can tell by the structure. A decent place o visit if you are around dal lake and have some time to kill.
There are around 250-260 steps (yeah I counted it) till the temple entrance. So be prepared for the climb. Although i saw aged people also climbing the stairs. The Shivling is beautiful. The view from the top is amazing. If you're in Srinagar, you should definitely visit this place. Note : Mobile phones are not allowed
The road leading to the top of the hill of the historic Lord Shiva temple is mind refreshing with Lush green Deodar as well as pine trees along the road. Morever from the temple the spell binding view of Srinagar city as well Dal lake is quite fascinating. One of the best places to visit if one is in Srinagar city.
Lying at a height of 1000 feet and overlooking the beautiful city of Srinagar, the Shankaracharya temple dates back to 200 B.C. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this Indian Temple was visited by Adi Shankara and hence associated with him.
Truly awesome. More than the temple, the approach to the temple is an experience in itself. The divine sensation once you pray there. The whole experience 🙏 Around 400-500 stairs to reach there can be a tough task for elderly people. But once you reach there the view is breathtaking. You can view the lakes going inside the Srinagar city. Just sit down & enjoy the divine feeling
