17th century buildings in Srinagar built specifically to withstand earthquakes are rare, but that’s exactly what the brick-and-wood shrine is about. It’s actually a terrific example of Kashmiri architecture. Named after the father of the Sufis who built it (and whose son is buried here), the shrine is also famous for briefly housing a relic of the Prophet Muhammad - a hair from his head. That relic is now housed in Hazratbal Shrine. It’s prettily decorated, with a ceiling painted in gold, the floors entirely carpeted.
