While touring this amazing attraction you'll see many of exhibits which were collected by Robert Ripley himself.
Robert LeRoy Ripley was an American cartoonist, entrepreneur and amateur anthropologist, who created the Ripley's Believe It or Not! Newspaper panel series, radio show, and television show which feature odd facts from around the world. Throughout the 1920s, Mr. Ripley continued to broaden the scope of his work and his popularity increased. On November 3, 1929, he drew a panel in his syndicated cartoon saying "Believe It or Not, America has no national anthem! Ripley's cartoon series was estimated to have 80 million readers worldwide, and it was said that he received more mail than the President of the United States. Robert Ripley’s passion was travelling the globe in search of the odd and unusual.
Subjects covered in Ripley's cartoons and text ranged from sports to little known facts about unusual and exotic sites. He encouraged readers to submit oddities as well. They would supply photographs of a wide variety of small town trivia like unusual shaped vegetables, strange domestic animals, and this was depicted by Ripley’s drawings.
In the Odditorium you will find shrunken heads, a bone motor cycle, a car part pirate and the largest operational erector set Ferris wheel. There are over 800 odd and rare exhibits that can’t be seen or experienced anywhere else in the world. It is a self-guided tour so you can take your time. Learn the history and back story of the exhibits, play with the interactive displays. The red trains have over 20 stops of historic sites, attractions, restaurants, and shopping here in the Nation’s Oldest City. And the ghost trains take you places to face your fears at the paranormal experience in St. Augustine.
Hidden in the hedges outside Ripley's museum is a replica Michelangelo's 'David'. This replica was transcribed directly from the original. Apparently it is one of only two "exact" replicas in the world. It was carved the 1960's by Sollazini & Sons of Carrara and the marble was excavated from the Fantiscritti Quarry in Tuscany, from which the original's marble was excavated.

Ripley's Believe It Or Not Reviews & Ratings
Recently went on a trip to St. Augustine, we went to Ripley’s, it was so fun. We even rode the trolley around town and I have to give a shout out to one of the trolley drivers Handsome Alex!! He was fantastic! The way he spoke about the history behind each site was so great, it wasn’t your typical boring guide he told lively stories and anecdotes and he was so entertaining yet informative. He deserves a raise!! We hopped on another train when we had to leave Handsome Alex and it just wasn’t the same. There were no stories, they didn’t let us know if there was another trolley coming, they weren’t very enthusiastic about the information they were giving. But other than that, I had a grand time.
We just moved to Saint Augustine and today we started sight seeing. My children begged me to take them to Ripley's Believe it Or Not. I will say this has to be one of the most interesting places in town to visit. The displays are so unique and my children enjoyed the interactive experience. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting or just moved here . We can't wait to go again. The parking was easy and access was close to the building. This is a great place for a family to visit
Last time I was here I was 10; no I'm here again at 27 and I can honestly say things have aged well and also been updated in certain areas! My husband and I did the museum/ghost tour/mini golf package and we found it well worth it! The museum is full of old and new classics (the wax figures are much more realistic than I remember...😱😬 creepy.) And the ghost tour was very cool and informative with just the right amount of spookiness! Definitely fun for the family!
Ripley’s Believe It or Not was really good . It had 3 floors of interesting exhibits. It took a 1 to 1 1/2 hours to go through. Make sure to ask for your veteran’s discount if you served . That’s a 50 % off savings . Don’t forgot to take a peak at the statue of David behind the hedge! Quite impressive! 🤫😳😂
Attended my granddaughter's birthday party here. They did a great job of providing a nice room for cake and presents then brought everything to my son at the end of the tour so they didn't have to haul it all out before the tour. The museum is pretty neat and everyone young and old really enjoyed it!
