The Prince Of Wales Reviews & Ratings
I dream about this place, it’s just that good. If I didn’t live nearly 3000 miles away I’d order takeout all the time, if that’s even an option. I’ve come close to begging them over the phone for their fish and chips recipe. The reason for my devotion? They have the best fish and chips I’ve ever tasted in my life. By a long shot. When I travel, I try fish and chips recipes frequently, and am often let down. But this was the perfect combination of crispy batter, a huge serving, flavourful and flaky filet, and amazing tartar sauce! I loved the cute and eclectic atmosphere of this little place. Bring a $1 bill, the place is covered nearly head to toe with bills drawn on and taped everywhere. Plus service was FANTASTIC!!
Walked in the door before 7:00 pm and a lady asked what she could help me with. I asked if I choose my own seat or if they seat me. She said "The sign on the door clearly states we're closed, so we are closed" and not in a nice way. Posted hours are until 8:00 pm. I would liked to have enjoyed "The best fish & chips" however, this will not be an option for me, ever.
If you are looking for a place to get great fish 'n' chips in St. Augustine, this is it! Good English tea, great beer and all around fun, friendly atmosphere with cool memorabilia. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the bathroom was, too. The sole reason that I didn't give it five full stars is that I wish it were bigger ( I would give it 4 and a half stars if Google made it possible. ).
Had a pint during the day on Sunday. It was very quiet. The lady is nice. Looks like it used to be a real banger of a place, but half the decorations seem to be missing.
Had a craving for fish and chips. The Prince of Wales was perfect. Sat outside and enjoyed watching the day go by with a couple of Guinness beers.
