The Pioneer Museum dates back to 1938 with the supports of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers organization and Hortense McQuarrie Odlum. Hortense McQuarrie Odlum wanted to preserve and showcase the heirlooms of the family members and today, its collection takes you through the culture and historical facts of the Washington county and the family’s journey through it. The Pioneer family contributed to the city in many ways. They cultivated cotton and silk worms and created jobs.

The collection has over 2000 pioneer history documents including obituaries, 500 photographs, and more than 1500 artefacts. You can find a collection of historic documents, silk items, photographs, relics, history of the locals towns and a collection depicting the history of Washington County. The personal belongings include pieces of clothing, utensils, crockery, photos, fire arms and weapons, hand tools, jewellery and a priceless collection of vintage violins. The place is quiet run down but it only takes one visit to see just how unique the place is.
