Castle Rock is a limestone stack which has geological significance. It rises fifty-nine meter over the Lake Huron. The stack was created by erosion of the surrounding land area. If you can successfully climb at the top of the castle then you will get an opportunity to explore the majestic view of the Mackinac Island and surrounding area. From May to October the castle remains open daily for individuals and groups. To capture your memory, take a snap of yourself in front of the Babe and Paul Bunyan. You can also check out the gift shop at the entrance of Castle Rock.

Castle Rock Reviews & Ratings

  • I have loved this little tourist trap since I was little and it hasn’t changed a bit. I was so glad to take my kids to see it and have fun. The hike up to the cliff will test you but the view is amazing. Gift shop has a lot of Michigan tourist items. Worth the stop!

  • I was very skeptical about this place. It seemed like a tourist trap but we did it anyway. We were pleasantly surprised! The cost was $1 per person so it’s hard to beat and the view was amazing! This won’t take long or cost much (only if you can avoid buying something in the gift shop) but the reward is worth it.

  • Really amazing view. Also a whole lot of stairs. Two wonderful benches that you will appreciate on the way up. If you are not in great health you may want to skip this climb. The view was totally worth it though . Many sasquatch references, which were fun for our family. The gift shop was well worth waiting for. We had read other reviews saying that the gift shop had a lot of the same things as the other shops, but cheaper. That was exactly what we found. Short trip. Good time filler if you have an hour or two to kill. Kids all enjoyed it.

  • Nice place to visit if you're here in st. Ignace. It's a short climb to the top of the Rock and may give some people a workout. Nice view of the area from the top. If you're afraid of heights you may get a bit dizzy at the top but it's not too bad. The climb only costs $1. The store for the most part is your typical tourist shop selling the usual souvenirs and clothes. As you would expect prices are a bit on the high side but not too terrible. The kids also enjoyed it.

  • Well worth every step to get to the top. We enjoyed ourselves. Brought back memories for my husband. I'd like to bring my family here soon
