Just a great place to chill. Walk on the beach or the breakwater and get out of your head a bit. If you are a photographer the end of the day is prime. Flat light, stunning sunsets, lighthouse...very cool.
Now this website says they charge only on summer weekends, WELL that's not true, We were in St Joseph this past weekend Oct 4-6, went for a short walk in this park,(nice enough place) but when we got back to our truck there was a TICKET on our windshield. It wasn't just a TICKET to cover the parking pass for a day and it wasn't even double that! The TICKET was actually MORE than what the yearly park pass cost! We had planned on spending the day in town but after our $40 TICKET we decided that we had given enough of our money to this town! I'd like to know how a small city park pass can cost more than a Michigan State Park pass?
Absolutely GORGEOUS! Plenty of parking that pretty close to the beach. There is a little bit of a hike but not much. Was surprised by how clean the bathrooms were maintained as well! Can't wait to go back
Out of the way and hard to locate, this is my favorite park. Very nice beach but the best is access to the North Pier and Lighthouse. I love watching the boats go by and the fishermen on the pier. Reasonable parking fee. Nice parking. The bathrooms are better than most beach bathrooms.
This was a really cool spot to check out. Parking is $3 an hour. And no pets are allowed. We didn't notice the no dog sign until we came walking back from the lighthouse (with our dog haha). Be careful walking on the causeway, it's slippery. We watched a guy slip hard, and likely break his expensive camera.
