A surreal lake in the upper-Engadin, it takes its name from the near-by village of Silvaplana. The lake is also connected to the near-by Lej da Champfer and together with its neighbouring Lake Sils, is one of the largest lakes of the Grisons region.
Overlooking the mountains like Piz Corvatsch, Piz Julier and Piz Surlej, the lake’s drainage basin comprises of several glaciers and the Vadret dal Tremoggia is the largest.
