A part of the Stellenbosch museum, the Powered House was built in 1777 and was primarily used to store lead, flint and powder. Soon it was decided that cannons and other such weapons would be supplied to the city to protect it from the invaders. However, since the city was always a peaceful one, the house was soon used only as a storage place and houses weapons, cannons and barrels dating back to the 18th century.
- Cannons dating to the 18th century
- Gun displays

The Powder House Reviews & Ratings
An amazing, however small, piece of South Africa's early history. It showcases a few early 1600 rifles and cannons inscribed with the original VOC engravement and meticulously restored and upkept foundry-cannon barrels. Also a great centerpiece for the town
Its right in the center of stellenbosch. Nothing special but worth visiting it!
Enjoyed this little building and findings inside. Well worth visiting.
