Bergianska Tradgarden - Review

This 18th century botanical garden is close to Stockholm University and was founded by the Bergius Brothers. Now it is owned by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, managed as a center of recreation, education and research. There are two main areas - the open garden and the conservatories.

  • Open garden: Contains the herb garden, the Italian terrace, the Japanese pond, vegetable garden, the orchard and the rhododendron area.
  • The Edvard Anderson Conservatory: Various botanical landscapes brought to life.
  • Victoria House: A historic building dedicated specifically to the giant water lily knowns as Victoria.

While the Edvard Anderson Conservatory and the Victoria house have restricted opening times, the outdoor areas of the garden are always open. You can even picnic on the grass in the dedicated areas.

  • Beautiful place to visit if you are interest in plants, different variation from some places around the world. It is not really big place but it have nice park around by the water. A nice cafe/ restaurant for a fika. The ticket for the garden and the lotus garden are good price

  • Very nice little park. The free section is a nice promenade. The paying main greenhouse is nice, but a bit pricey and not as great as others I've visited (the one in Copenhagen is much more impressive). It can be a nice place to grab a coffee during wintertime though.

  • Beautiful botanical garden, full of every imaginable plant from all over the world. Very accessible by Roslagsbanan train or bus and not to far by underground. Well worth to spend the day, there is a cafe were you can have refreshments in the greenhouse which have interesting different climate zones ranging from desert to tropical rainforest.

  • The most gorgeous botanical garden! The outside gardens are free and so fun to wander. I really enjoyed the inside orangery and there’s a separate garden of massive lily pads. Very very beautiful and unique, highly recommended. 100 sek entrance fee.

  • Well.. this is a great place.. I go there a lot and it always seems to surprise me ! The amount of flowers, plants and trees is huge! Plus it is written from where each is..also there is a lake and great track to walk around .. So u can take the kids and have a great picnic or just run or walk! It is really big, clean And beautiful 200 meters there is natural history museum which the most amazing museum in Stockholm and it is FREE
