This bridge is to Stockholm, what the Pont Alexander is to Paris. Ornate and made of iron, the bridge was made to impress visitors to the Arts and Crafts Exhibition of 1897. Statues of Nordic gods, reliefs of sea monsters, and a shield with the relief of St. Erik, all came together to provide what today is a marvelous photo opportunity. There’s a beautiful park nearby, with some fantastic looking buildings and yummy restaurants about. The island & the bridge leads itself has much to offer visitors, especially the Vasa Museum, the Nordic Museum, The Biological Museum, a small amusement park, a lake great for bird-watching, Rosendal Palace, and the world’s oldest open air museum.
