The museum’s premise is simple - focus on ancient artifacts from the ancient civilizations around the Mediterranean. Formed in 1954, the collection includes a treasure trove of historical objects from Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Ancient Cyprus (one of the best in the world), and Ancient Rome. The museum elaborates and delineates history with the help of stories, objects, films and digital technology, making it a matter of popular consumption. There is also a nice collection of Islamic art. The Baghdad cafe at the top has nice views.
