Parc National De La Jacques-cartier, Stoneham-et-tewkesbury Reviews
I went there with my boyfriend and one friend. Although it's a bit far from us, we arrived to the park hoping to see the effect of the Fall in a forest. This park showed us the beauty of this season. As we are not really active people, we decided to take the route Les Cascades that is for beginners, but they have more trails for beginners, intermediates and advanced hikers. We were surprised at the signaling of the trails. They also have a map in their website and they give you a printed copy of it when you arrived. The entrance costs 10 CAD per person, and it's totally worth it. There were some moments when we were at some part of the forest and we stopped and stayed quiet. The silence that you could hear was amazing, not a sound. I don't know what else to say other than this place is spectacular! You need to go there.
Wonderful National park. The river, the forest ... everything is beautiful. Impressively well maintained and organized. You won't find garbage laying around. Camp sites, just for a day for swimming or to rent a kayak ++ ... So much to do. Not to mention all the hiking. Place tend to be full of respectful people, it stays clean and nice.
Me and my partner hiked Los loupes, both ends and it was a nice quiet trail that you can get lost in all the beauty. We started at 7:30 am before the trail opened and I recommend that because once we we're heading down, a lot of people were starting to hike up. There was only us and another bloke the entire trip that we saw, until we began our decent down. With two beautiful views, first being nothing but clouds; it's like the earth forgot to load, and the second of beautiful trees and lakes below. It was worth the incline and 3 hour walk.
I think it is a great place for families to spend time. However, going there kids-free as a couple I didn't find my experience as relaxing as I was hoping for. I could hear the road nearby so it took away from "nature experience". And, even though there were beaches on a map close to our camping site, I couldn't really go for a nice swim- the water is shallow (like knee height) and cold. I know a lot of people go on canoe trips there, but I definitely wanted to go for a nice swim as a part of being in a nature/ summer vacation and unfortunately it didn't happen for me. Plus, given the expensive fees we paid, the overall experience was a bit of a disappointment to me. But the registration place and the site was clean. You can get coffee and some cute souvenirs. So if you are traveling with children- it's perfect!
We have been here twice, the first time we we driving here with the 50th Canadian national park passport, while unfortunately, this park is not Canadian national park but it's Quebec's national park. So pay attention to this official belonging. Anyway, here is a very beautiful place for hiking, especially in autumn! You know that there are colourful leaves in this season, and you can find magnificent views here!
