  • We did the seven lakes drive on Oct 20, 2017. We drove around in the seven lakes drive. Fall colors around the lakes were nice, even though it was slightly pre fall even then.

  • What a beautiful park! My niece & I really enjoyed this wknd's Native American Pow Wow & can not wait to do it again!!

  • Great place to do all kinds of recreational activities. Scenic driveways driving with your lovers. Try to drive during autumn and winter.

  • Absolutely love the roads in this area. Tons of great picnic areas and many lakes to fish. The Appalachian trail runs through the park so there is lots of awesome hiking.

  • Not so hidden treasure 40 miles from NYC! Once the private estate of the Harriman family, it was given to NY State when Averill Harriman (former Ambassador to England) died. It is a fantastic resource with seven lakes campgrounds, hiking trails or just a pretty drive for a picnic. The beautiful Bear Mountain Bridge was built by Charles Robeling, who built the Brooklyn Bridge, as part of the once-private entrance to the family estate. The big draw is Bear Mount with it's newly refurbished lodge and restaurant, North American Zoo and space for events like weekly Wed. night classic car shows, 4th of July celebration, etc. Drive up to the top the Perkins mountain drive and there is another fascinating spot with a view of NYC on one side and an overlook ot the Bear Mountain Inn on the other.
