Any decent city will have a park to which the family can retire to in the weekends for some quality time. But it’s just so much nicer when that need is recognised, anticipated and then fulfilled as well as it can be – like at this park. The main draw here is a tiny zoo featuring birds (swans and storks – you’ll find them nesting all over!) and a few other animals, and the kind of children’s playground that makes you wish you were 10 years old again. Trees in beautiful colours, shady pathways, green corridors, grassy lawns, flowery gardens, stone ping pong tables (bring your won rackets) boat rides on the water and really charming buildings – what’s not to like? The building in question is the Pavilion Josephine, a house used by Napoleon’s wife. Another delight of the place is the library that runs on an honour system; if you feel like reading just borrow a book, then return it when you're done. It’s a great place to recharge your batteries, let your kids run down their own, and of course, people watch. Whether you chill, walk, jog, cycle picnic or read – the park is heaven.

Can get quite busy but you can always find a quiet corner. Lots for kids to do besides the usual swings, slides and sandpits - boating on the lake, football pitches, skateboard parks, a little zoo and farm, ice cream stands, ten pin bowling. Can easily spend a whole day here and quite cheaply too.
One of the most amazing parks I have ever seen. The place has huge green spaces as well as a variety of trees and flowers to enjoy. Children play areas are widely available and of great quality. Water surfaces allow for amazing views as well as for the option to hire a small boat. Truly recommend for a day out in Strasbourg. The kids also find the animals (flamingos, monkeys, parrots, owls and a variety of birds and tortoises) very interesting
Very beautiful park with a lot to explore and with a small animal enclosures. Only the apes should have more space to live! Perfect for marriage photos, families and outdoor bday parties.
Called a park, but actually more like a garden, the Orangerie is a great place to spend some time outside within the city with family and kids - something local inhabitants can be seen to do on a regular basis, as the Orangerie is one of the few larger stretches of greenery in the surroundings. Moreover, the park hosts playgrounds for children of all ages, a freely accessible zoo (of sorts), as well as a train ride for the young (in the form of cars guided along a rails) and sports areas. All of this is surrounded by various places where you can get a drinks, or ice cream (in summer) or roasted chestnuts (I autumn and winter).
Such a beautiful park. Never seen so many storks on one spot! There's a really nice playground, too. Plenty of areas for children to play or have a picnic. There's also a restaurant in the middle of the park. A bit pricey though. Also the area around the park is really beautiful. So if you visit Strasbourg, plan in at least half a day for this area.
