The Grave of Stonewall Jackson’s Arm has a curious history behind it. It attracts many visitors because the grave marks only the famous soldier Stonewall Jackson’s amputated arm, while his body lies in Lexington, Virginia. This grave is located in the private cemetery of Ellwood Manor. It is believed that the arm got severed during the war in Chancellorsville in 1863, and Jackson died in Lexington after a few days because of infection in the wound. In order to commemorate the brave soldier’s life, the severed arm was buried in the family cemetery of the company chaplain’s estate.
