Surprised, are you at the mention of Dutch in a place so authentically Indian and colloquial? Well, owing to a rich history of trade, Surat has hosted several traders and colonies in the past, and the Dutch are one of them. The Dutch Cemetery is an imposing mausoleum accommodating the tomb of f Baron Hendrik Adriaan Van Rheede tot Drakenstein. He passed away in the 16th century. Today this Surat attraction features impressive pillars and a huge gallery. Beautiful remnants to admire.

  • Really peaceful and eye catching place I would say this is. If you're a photographer you will definitely feel good about this place and also this is a really good place for making short films or doing some videography! Some new buildings surrounding this historical place would itch you if you're a photographer! The place is perfect for shooting some songs! There are lesser graves here than English cemetery so you can freely roam! The best time to go there is between 9am to 10am when you have good sunlight there! And it opens at 9am in morning.

  • Historical place and has a great good looking structure. But we, the surtis don't look back in history too much, we do not even try to peep in past if it has no impact on us personally.🤣 So many places we have with good historical memories but we don't care too much. We respect all the cultures Incl Hindu, Muslim, Jain, Parsi, Sikh, etc. But we too have our own culture called "Happy people by not caring too much" And this is what makes us one of the carelessly happiest people in the whole country and world itself..! Proud to be Surti. ❤️
