Well, owing to a rich history of trade, Surat has hosted several traders and colonies in the past, and the Dutch are one of them. The Dutch Cemetery is an imposing mausoleum accommodating the tomb of f Baron Hendrik Adriaan Van Rheede tot Drakenstein. He passed away in the 16th century. • Introduction. The tombs in English, Dutch and Armenian cemeteries at Surat are reckoned among the most important historicalmonuments in the city. ... One of the tomb in the Dutch cemetery is quoted as unequalled among the structures of its kind (barring a few) in Europe

  • Surat, located on the banks of Tapi or Tapti river is one of the fastest growing metropolis of India. It is equidistant from both Mumbai & Ahmedabad and has a population... But It Is A Place Of Historical Importance. Just Give It A Try, and You Won't Be Disappointed, Well Maintained, Clean Place, Need to Display Information Boards Dutch cemetery is historical place but need to improve this place. Nice architecture and beautiful art. Need to cleaning. Surat which was the Head quarter of East India Company until it was shifted to Bombay, holds some un parallel pieces of History. Dutch Cemetry is a nice place to visit. The Main gate is always closed, Don't be disappointed, ask a local and there is side gate through which you could enter. Last visit time is 5:00 pm. Local authorities have kept a caretaker but he is always drunk and peeing on graves. Local Muslim Population doesn't understand the value of this place, They have broke the monuments in man place. Caretaker just doesn't care. But leave aside this. Just try to imagine this place in 17th and 18th century. Just try to imagine Surat in 17th Century.

  • Very calm place ,i feel like very strong mind.my mind get peace there.
