Skypoint Observation Deck, Surfers Paradise Reviews
We took the observation deck and food ticket $35. We enjoyed a beautiful seafood platter - calamari was perfectly cooked, as was all the food. Food, surprisingly, was not at all overpriced. We rocked up at the tower and didn't know much, so when we saw the sign at the top to upgrade to do the walk, we found out it was at set times and we needed to go down and get the upgrade, and the walks are at set times. As we had walked a long way already and needed to walk home we opted to just enjoy the observation deck - which in itself is a great highlight.
Awesome views. Be smart and get an annual pass so you can visit more than once. And look into the 3 park annual pass too. Food and drinks are expensive so consider other food options locally. Good spot for a drink and relax with the views. If you're planning meeting friends or a special occassion (birthday, anniversary, celebration) it would be worthwhile calling ahead to see if there is a tourist group at the same time. It seems the tourist groups from Asian countries all visit here and invade by the busload. They take all the seating and ignore lines at the bar etc. So be warned.
It was a very special experience. The guide was superb. Anyone even remotely concerned about safety can relax. The safety is so overboard that the entire building could collapse and you'd still survive. Also, it's not a climb - it's a short walk up the stairs outside the top of the building. It really is a fantastic experience - it's definitely recommended because you are outside and extremely high up. I just wish there wasn't so much talking about "safety, safety and more safety" and a bit more interesting discussion.
We were greeted at the reception and told to look for the lift, which took us up to the 77th floor in a mere 40 seconds. The ride makes one feel like they're on a plane taking off due to the fast change of altitude. The observation deck itself is well-maintained, modern and spacious. A wide selection of drinks are available at the bar, albeit maybe a bit too much in price. The view is indescribable. The entire Gold Coast shoreline is visible from the top, as well as the beautiful Queensland sunset when visited at dusk. I'd definitely recommend checking SkyPoint out, it's all about the breathtaking experience. You can even grab a photo of yourself with a digitally edited background of the panorama at the exit.
Been living on the gold coast for 3 years now and only recently went up to the observation deck, absolutely loved it, went back a week later an bought the yearly pass, it's well worth it. It's only $45 for the whole year, it's a great place to sit and relax and enjoy a full 360 degree view of the gold coast. The food is great and reasonably priced, friendly service and an all round good atmosphere.
