Bare Island - Review

Situated in the Botany Bay, the Bare Island is a famous tourist attraction in Sydney owing to its historic architecture and artefacts. The Bare Island features the soldier barracks, forts, and tunnels which were built during the Second World War.

The island is also a major location for extensive scuba diving by the natives and international surfers and visitors. The island also provides intensive coaching and training to the aspiring divers, as well as snorkelling ventures and underwater visiting. The most vibrant and colourful marine creatures of Australia are known to dwell in the the underwaters of Bare Island. The marine life varies from large sea horses to red and colourful Indian fish, including sea dragons, sea horses, and other creatures. Seals as well as white sharks inhabit the waters around the Bare Island occasionally. This place is rich with history and natural wealth and hence a must visit!

Bare Island, Sydney Reviews

  • Very good for snorkeling. One side it is difficult to enter and there are heaps of sea urchins, but the other side is supposed to be very safe. Some pretty cool rocks! The whole thing is very beautiful though and there is parking nearby, but no bathrooms that I could find.

  • Very accessible area and great place for fishing or to experience some of Sydney’s history. The morning’s and afternoons are a great time to visit.

  • I love this beach it's one of my favorite! The beach was clean and family oriented. The Castle walk along the bare island was beautiful. Definitely a good spot for photos. I rate this place 5/5😀

  • Amazing place to go and have great fun with friends and family! There have crystal water and colorful rocks! Few delicious restaurants in this area, so easy for everyone has choices ! Plenty of parking space!

  • An old fortification connected by a wooden bridge with mainland. Bare Island Fort’s structure provides a picturesque backdrop for any event, with spectacular scenic views over La Perouse. The water surrounding Bare Island Fort is also one of the most popular scuba diving sites in NSW, as well as a very popular location for snorkelling in Kamay Botany Bay National Park
