Best Time To Visit Sydney

Sydney is one city that manages to shine through all seasons, with something to do, see and explore all around the year. The city also hosts a number of festivals and is witness to the arrival of tourists through every season. The best time to visit can be significantly influenced by your interests, your budget and your preferences of the ideal climate to travel to Australia.

  • Summers (December-February) – The summer time in Sydney is the peak season time as the summers in Sydney coincide with the winters in the Northern Hemisphere and the tourists from the north travel to the city to enjoy the warm Australian summers and flood the streets. The influx of tourists leads to a rise in the prices making everything expensive. The temperatures are high and fluctuate between 20 to 27 degrees Celsius and climbing over 40 degrees Celsius for a few days each summer.
  • Fall (March-May) – The fall arrives with a little drop in the temperature with warm days and mild nights. Most of the summer crowds have left the city by this time and the prices are starting to fall in preparation for the offseason. The fall season is the best time to go for camping, going to the zoo, hiking and catching ferries without the crowds. The temperatures start to fall and fluctuate between 10 to 21 degrees Celsius. The evenings can get very cold especially in May.
  • Winters (June-August) – With the arrival of the winter season the temperature drops, however, it is not unbearably low. Winter is the off-season in Sydney and the city is the cheapest during this time. One can easily explore the city during this season wearing some warm clothing which in turn would save a lot of the costs. The temperatures are low and stay between 7 to 17 degrees Celsius.
  • Spring (September-November) – Spring is the driest time in Sydney and the weather is pleasant with warm days and cool nights. The beaches start coming to life at this time of the year and it is a good time to catch Sydney’s attractions, bushwalking, cycling, and the outdoors. The temperatures start to rise and fluctuate between 12 to 24 degrees Celsius. The summer crowds start arriving by late spring and the prices in the city start increasing in preparation if the peak season.

The best times to visit Sydney are September through November and from March to May. These months avoid the summer crowds and offer visitors comfortable temperatures and manageable tourist crowds. The prices in the city are also at a low during these months when compared to the peak season, making the visit more affordable during Spring and Fall seasons.
