Located on the southern suburbs of Sydney, Botany Bay is an ideal waterfront cum national park whose clean-looking water is fringed by quiet, sandy beaches and the marshlands that shelter a profusion of birdlife. Walking along the shores of Botany Bay you shall be able to see the red-tiled-roof suburbia that makes the precincts of Sydney look even more beautiful. The major highlights of this national park are La Perouse, with its associations with eighteenth-century French exploration, and the Kurnell Peninsula where Captain Cook first set anchor along with large stretches on either side of the Georges River that form a State Recreation Area. For entertainment you can head towards to Brighton-Le-Sands, the busy suburban strip on the west of the bay that houses a number of bars and restaurants and is popular with Sydney’s Greek community. Botany Bay’s long beach is also a popular spot for windsurfers and kitesurfers.
