Cadman’s cottage was built in 1816 and is the oldest standing house in Sydney. This cottage was named after John Cadman who was a convict in 1798 and who lived here till 1846. After its desertion, this cottage was taken over by the water police in 1847 and was used by the adjacent sailor’s home. Today this sandstone cottage is used for Sydney Harbour National Park Visitors Centre and a part of it has been converted to a small museum.
