Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace, Sydney Reviews
Stepping back in time greets one as one enters this old relic. Tuesday early evening movies, a buzz of mostly North Shore women of varying ages. Some, mutton dressed up as lamb. The odd one or two males dragged in by the odd one or two women. Given all that, seats are quite comfortable, young friendly staff in abundance to sell you the entrance tickets to your chosen movie or sell the "must have" popcorn, choc top Ice cream which will unceremoniously drop pieces of chocolate on the front of your clothing, without fail, OR, sell a plastic glass of bubbly or wine. Lets not forget the chippies and vast selection of packet lollies. How can you not enjoy!!!
It's great. Love love love the atmosphere. I have been taking mum to mthly cinema. Not happy to stop having lunch with movie. I can see it has effected the numbers!!. But still will go. 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Great venue, takes you back to the old days and has a great nostalgic feel, however the seats are comfortable, the sound and screen are great. There are often big nights for old or new movies in the main theater which is also a great experience. Been here a tonne of times and definitely recommend it.
I've been to HOPP a few times already and every time I've really enjoyed it! They have a great movie selection, you can order wine/beer at the bar, the staff is very friendly and all of that in gorgeous Art Deco frame. Keep it up!:)
What a great experience! Escape in to the past. How can one feel nostalgic at a place they are visiting for the first time? Such is the magic of this place. It was everything I imagined. And more. They done a marvellous job at keeping things how they were 80years ago. From the ticket booth to the candy shop. The colours . The wall of fame. The velvet. The carpet. All so, well, cinematic!
